Tigers pitcher Daniel Norris said Thursday that surgery to remove a malignant growth on his thyroid was successful and he is cancer-free.

Norris revealed earlier this month that the tumor was discovered and he scheduled surgery for after the season. The 22-year-old Norris was acquired by the Tigers earlier this year in the trade that sent David Price to Toronto.
