Still doubt Molina's tag on Ellis? Twitter provides an answer image

Seems there's lingering doubt about whether Yadier Molina applied a tag on Mark Ellis during Friday's Game 1 of the American League Championship Series.

Yes, he did, said the umpire. Apparently the Los Angeles Dodgers agreed because they didn't raise a fuss. Manager Don Mattingly isn't one to let things go quietly when his team is shortchanged. Didn't do it at Memorial High School in Evansville, Ind., nor with the New York Yankees.

Endless video replay could be deemed proof, but all that super-slo-mo technology seemed to miss the point.

So along comes an answer via the Twitterverse:

Had Ellis scored the Dodgers would have led 3-2. Instead, Molina's tag on a throw from Carlos Beltran completed a double play and ended a scoring threat. Beltran caught a fly from Michael Young and uncorked a throw to the plate that had Ellis dead to rights.

The score stayed 2-2 until Beltran's game-winning single in the 13th inning.

The NLCS resumes Monday in Los Angeles, with the St. Louis Cardinals up 2-0.
