The Savannah Bananas head to Ohio for a matchup at Progressive Field on Saturday, August 10.

'Banana Ball' will come to six MLB ballparks throughout 2024, including the home of MLB's Cleveland Guardians. Progressive Field's seating capacity is 34,830, nearly seven times the size of the Banana's home ballpark, Grayson Stadium.

Last year, the Bananas shattered their previous attendance numbers throughout the 2023 World Tour; in March, a trip to Minute Maid Park in Houston — the Bananas' first trip to a MLB ballpark — drew a sold-out crowd of 41,000 fans.

Savannah Bananas baseball rules

The entertaining and creative 'Banana Ball' has 11 rules, which are displayed below.

  1. Every inning is worth one point. The team that wins the inning gets the point for that inning. In the last inning of the game, every run counts.
  2. A new inning cannot be started after two hours of game time.
  3. A hitter cannot step out of the box. If a hitter does step out, a strike will be added to the count.
  4. A hitter is not allowed to bunt.
  5. A hitter is allowed to attempt to steal first base on any pitch of an at-bat.
  6. There are no walks. If a pitcher throws four balls, every defensive player on the field must touch the ball before it becomes live. A hitter can advance to as many bases as possible.
  7. Catchers and coaches are not allowed to visit the mound.
  8. If a fan catches a foul ball, the catch results in an out.
  9. If the game is tied at the end of the time limit, the Showdown Tiebreaker will decide which team wins the game.
  10. Each team is allowed to challenge one ruling on the field (fair/foul ball calls, force/tag play calls and catch play calls). Fans will also have the ability to challenge one ruling during the game.
  11. The Golden Batter Rule allows a team to send any hitter to bat in any spot in the lineup. It can only be used once per game.
