Baseball legend Sandy Koufax is recovering from a scare Friday in Los Angeles Dodgers training camp. Koufax, 78, was struck in the forehead by a line drive.
The frightening incident came while Koufax was watching a Dodgers prospect warm up at the team's Phoenix complex. Andre Ethier, who was taking batting practice nearby, drilled a foul ball toward Koufax.
The ball struck Koufax on the left side of his forehead, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Despite the danger, Koufax stayed on his feet and, according to the Times, laughed as he walked toward a trainer. Team medics took Koufax away in a cart for examination.
About 15 minutes later, Koufax was back on the field.
Koufax, a star with the Dodgers in the years after their move to LA from Brooklyn, is an advisor to the team's chairman.
