Give Ryan Dempster credit for the attempt, but he's no Will Ferrell.

The former Cubs pitcher led the Wrigley Field crowd in the traditional singing of "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" during the seventh-inning stretch Friday afternoon — but not as himself. Dempster threw on the white wig, full suit and trademark glasses to become legendary Cubs broadcaster Harry Caray.

Dempster stayed in character and even threw in the classic line "Let's get some runs!" A commendable effort.

Still, this only served as a reminder of Ferrell's incredible work as Caray on "Saturday Night Live." Who could forget "Space, The Infinite Frontier" with Dr. Ken Waller?

"It's a simple question, doctor. Would you eat the moon if it were made of ribs?"
