Robinson Cano gets hurt while running and Mets fans get another opportunity to rant image

Mets second baseman Robinson Cano has caught a lot of heat this week for not hustling. His attempt to beat out a routine ground ball Wednesday night ended in pain, for Cano and those who watch the Mets.

Cano left the game vs. the Nationals after suffering what the club said was quad tightness. He appeared to feel the injury when he was about halfway down the first base line.

Adeiny Hechavarria replaced him in the field for the fourth inning.

The online reactions to the injury and its circumstances spanned the usual range — from "LOLMets" to "Told ya so."

Some fans also had another opportunity to declare the offseason trade that brought Cano and closer Edwin Diaz to New York a loss for the Mets. Their main source of discontent: Jarred Kelenic, the Mets' first-round draft pick last year and the biggest prize for the Mariners in the trade, is hitting well in low Single-A. He 

Is any of that rational? No. Kelenic and fellow prospect Justin Dunn, the other building block the Mariners received, are a year or two, at least, from the majors. They might be great or they might be average when/if they get there. But we are talking fans — Mets fans, to be specific. This month has already been a long year for them.
