Some of baseball's best players also are among its most prominent in giving back to the community.

That's reflected in the list of club nominees for the annual Roberto Clemente Award, which honors a player who "best represents the game of baseball through positive contributions on and off the field, including sportsmanship and community involvement."

Among those nominated this year are Miguel Cabrera, Andrew McCutchen, Adrian Beltre, Jose Bautista and Paul Goldschmidt, all of whom offer up plenty to admire between the lines as well.

Each team's individual winner will be honored at his home stadium Wednesday — Roberto Clemente Day around the majors — or during another home game this month.

Fans can help select the winner by voting on ChevyBaseball.com from Wednesday through Oct. 9, with the winner to be announced during the World Series. Jimmy Rollins and Paul Konerko shared the award last year.
