Is Rob Lowe a Dodgers fan? Explaining actor's connection to Shohei Ohtani and Los Angeles ahead of NLCS image

The Dodgers are boasting star power on and off the field this October.

Three MVPs at the top of their lineup is a great start, but Dave Roberts' team has the backing of some brand names in the crowd at Dodger Stadium. Gone are the days when the late Larry King parked himself behind home plate for Dodgers games in the postseason, but the stars have been out this October.

One of the biggest names in attendance when the Dodgers eliminated the Padres in Game 5 of the NLDS was LeBron James, whose allegiances are scattered throughout the teams still standing in this postseason. James has cheered his hometown Guardians, but he was once seen wearing a Yankees hat at a Cleveland playoff game and was ecstatic about the Dodgers' win over San Diego.

There is one celebrity fan, however, whose allegiance can't be questioned.

Is Rob Lowe a Dodgers fan?

While actor Rob Lowe was once widely mocked for wearing a hat with the NFL shield to an NFL game, he actually has an MLB team he's all-in for.

Lowe is a Dodgers fan, and he can be seen at many crucial Dodgers games in the postseason. Sometimes, he's not just in the crowd.

Lowe was actually on the field with the Dodgers for their celebration after they advanced to the NLCS, and he was seen celebrating with Shohei Ohtani as though they were teammates. While many wondered whether Ohtani even knew who Lowe was, Lowe previously posted a picture of himself and the $700 million man in May.

Lowe praised Ohtani's kindness and humility in an interview with MLB.com in September, but he was a Dodgers fan long before Ohtani's arrival. The actor has been seen at Dodger Stadium, and sometimes in the clubhouse, year-after-year to cheer on his team.

Rob Lowe, Dodgers

Heading into the postseason, Lowe said he viewed the Dodgers as "scrappy underdogs" due to their pitching injuries. After entering the season as World Series favorites, though, that's likely not a popular take.

There is one caveat to Lowe's fandom: he actually grew up as a Reds fan in Ohio but later fell in love with the Dodgers.

The Dodgers aren't Lowe's only beloved Los Angeles team. Lowe is a lifelong Lakers fan, and his bond with the NBA franchise has only strengthened since his doppelganger, Rob Pelinka, took over the team's front office in 2017.

Dodgers celebrity fans

Countless celebrities have been spotted in Dodgers gear at Dodger Stadium over the years. Here are just a few:

  • Rob Lowe
  • Magic Johnson
  • Billie Jean King
  • Mila Kunis
  • Jason Bateman
  • Brad Pitt
  • Arnold Schwarzenegger
  • Ashton Kutcher
  • George Lopez

Late legends Kobe Bryant and Larry King were also Dodgers fans. Bryant attended games during the 2018 World Series, while King was a staple in seats behind home plate even in his final years.
