The Boston Red Sox evened their series against the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday with a 4-3 at Great American Ball Park, and now the two teams will square off again on Sunday.
On Saturday, Red Sox manager Alex Cora revealed that Boston would be using an opener for the game instead of someone from their rotation, and it will be right-handed reliever Zack Kelly to pitch first in the finale.
Kelly has been great for the Red Sox this season, posting a 1.75 ERA and a 0.94 WHIP in his 25 2/3 innings pitched. He's only been used as an opener one other time this season, pitching two scoreless innings while giving up two walks and striking out three against the Chicago White Sox.
After using six different bullpen arms on Saturday, including Kelly for 1/3 of an inning, it will be interesting to see Cora manages this one.
