The Boston Red Sox welcomed the New York Yankees to Fenway Park for the third and final game of their three-game set on Sunday night, and Alex Cora's team earned a 9-3 win to take the series.
Boston's offense was simply incredible, as they were getting on base with consistency, and they used their athleticism to take extra bases all night long. In fact, their nine stolen bases were the most in a single game in franchise history.
The Red Sox got runs from David Hamilton (2-for-4 with a walk and four stolen bases), Rafael Devers (1-for-4), Connor Wong (2-for-4 with a walk) and Ceddanne Rafaela (3-for-4 with a stolen base).
Cora's pitching staff was solid, as starter Kutter Crawford gave up just three earned runs on three hits (two home runs) and a walk while striking out nine over six innings.
Brennan Bernardino was the first pitcher out of the bullpen, and while he's been great in 2024, he didn't record a single out. Instead, Boston turned to Zack Kelly, who got out of the bases-loaded jam and delivered a scoreless inning.
Greg Weissert closed it out with two innings of one-hit ball.
This win improved the Red Sox's record to 37-35 and 18-20 at Fenway Park. Boston will travel tonight for their Monday night battle with the Toronto Blue Jays at the Rogers Centre.
