On Friday, the Boston Red Sox welcomed the New York Yankees to Fenway Park for the first of three games between the teams in this set, and Boston earned a 9-7 victory.
Red Sox starter Brayan Bello was solid in the outing, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks over five innings. Cam Booser and Josh Winckowski got the team through the sixth inning without surrendering a run.
To that point, the Red Sox were up 4-3 due to sacrifice flies from Tyler O'Neill and Masataka Yoshida, a Rafael Devers RBI single and a Rob Refsnyder RBI double.
However, two of Boston's best relievers (Brennan Bernardino and Zack Kelly) combined to give up four runs in the seventh to put New York ahead 7-4.
The Red Sox got two more back in the bottom of the inning from a Ceddanne Rafaela home run over the Monster.

Then, after Bailey Horn pitched a scoreless eighth inning, Wilyer Abreu hit an RBI double to center field to tie it up, and Yoshida gave them the lead on a two-RBI single.

Kenley Jansen stepped on the mound in the ninth and while he allowed some traffic, he recorded the save without giving up a run.
This win moved Boston to 55-47 on the season and an even 25-25 at home. The two teams will meet again on Saturday.
