While the Boston Red Sox have won five of their first seven games of the 2024 MLB season, they've done so without second baseman Vaughn Grissom, who the team acquired in a trade with the Atlanta Braves this offseason that sent Chris Sale to the NL East.

However, they may be getting him back soon, as manager Alex Cora confirmed that they're still looking at late April as a timetable for his return to action.

“Yeah, that’s where we’re at right now,” Cora said earlier in the week (transcribed by MassLive). “He’s still taking grounders and hitting.”

Grissom suffered a hamstring strain back in Spring Training, so he's yet to play a real game with his new club.

In his absence, the Red Sox have started Enmanuel Valdez (4-for-20 with one home run and three RBIs) and Pablo Reyes (1-for-3 with one RBI).

It's unclear at this moment whether Grissom will get extended spring training work, or when he'll begin rehabbing in the minors before making his debut for Boston.

In 64 total games with the Braves from 2022-23, Grissom hit .287 with a .746 OPS, five home runs, 27 RBIs and five stolen bases.
