Prior to Thursday's game against the Cleveland Guardians, the Boston Red Sox announced that they're placing outfielder Tyler O'Neill on the seven-day injured list, retroactive to April 16.
O'Neill collided with third baseman Rafael Devers earlier in the week, resulting in the outfielder receiving eight stitches and having to enter concussion protocol.
In his 15 games with Boston this year, he's hit .313 with a league-leading 1.209 OPS and seven home runs.
To fill his roster spot, the Red Sox are reinstating outfielder Rob Refsnyder, who had been dealing with a toe injury.
Refsnyder has hit .273 with a .768 OPS in his two seasons with Boston. He'll likely be used against lefties, as he's hit .270 with a .757 OPS against them in his career. Over the last two seasons against lefties, he's hit .326 with an OPS over .890.
