Boston Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas has been on the injured list since April when suffered torn cartilage in his rib cage.
While it's taken him quite a bit of time to recover, he's finally back on the diamond, as he began his rehab assignment with Triple-A Worcester on Tuesday.
It's not shocking that Casas looked a bit rusty at the plate.
The 24-year-old grounded out to third base in his first at-bat, struck out in his second, walked in his third (originally called a strikeout but was overturned via review system) and struck out again in his fourth.
It will likely take Casas some time to find his rhythm again, and it could take longer than he'll spend in Worcester, but Boston will be happy to have him back when he's good to go.
In the meantime, they'll keep using Dom Smith, who has looked pretty solid over the last month. And, when Casas comes back, he and Smith can split time to allow Casas to ease back in.
