During the fourth inning of the Boston Red Sox's Friday night win over the Los Angeles Angels, Red Sox shortstop Trevor Story suffered a shoulder injury that left him writhing in pain before leaving the field.
Story underwent tests on Saturday, and before Game 2 of the series, the team announced that the shortstop had been placed on the 10-day IL with a left shoulder dislocation.
Story started the 2024 season hitting .226 with a .617 OPS and four RBIs, but his impact in the field was evident.
Pablo Reyes will start Saturday's contest at shortstop, and Boston brought up Triple-A infielder David Hamilton to Anaheim to take Story's place on the roster.
