The Boston Red Sox have been busy adding talent over the last week, making multiple trades in an effort to improve their roster.
On Tuesday, they did so again, trading for right-handed pitcher Lucas Sims from the Cincinnati Reds, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan.
Sims, 30, was a first-round draft pick of the Atlanta Braves in the 2012 MLB draft. He debuted for the team in 2017 and was traded to Cincinnati in 2018 along with other players for former Red Sox Adam Duvall.

This year, Sims has appeared in 43 games and tossed 35 1/3 innings while posting a 3.57 ERA (4.88 FIP) and 1.415 WHIP and striking out 40 batters (10.2 K/9).
In return, the Red Sox are sending right-handed pitching prospect Ovis Portes to the Reds. The 19-year-old was the 29th-ranked prospect in the system (via. SoxProspects) and was originally signed as an international free agent in 2022.
Boston really needed some help in the bullpen, and this move could provide Alex Cora and company with the arm that they need to get through the rest of the regular season and hopefully into the postseason.
