The Boston Red Sox are set to return from the All-Star break with Jarren Duran having won the MVP of the this year's All-Star Game and the team winning eight of their last nine completed series (not including the set against the Toronto Blue Jays that was suspended until August 26 due to rain).
With the MLB trade deadline rapidly approaching, many are wondering if the Red Sox will commit to this group and add talent to help them make a run later in the year. And, if they do add, who will it be?
On Thursday, Woodward Sports put out a mock trade between the Red Sox and the Detroit Tigers that included Boston acquiring 27-year-old All-Star pitcher Tarik Skubal. However, in return, the Red Sox sent back their top three prospects (Marcelo Mayer, Roman Anthony and Kyle Teel).
Red Sox fans (and fans of general baseball) didn't respond kindly to this suggestion.
They forgot to include Rafael Devers and Triston Casas in the deal too. https://t.co/Nxk9slgDwP

Boston should be interested in acquiring Skubal, who has posted a 2.41 ERA (second in baseball) and a 0.88 WHIP (second) while striking out 140 batters (tied for fifth) over his 19 starts this year. However, if the request back is that package of prospects, chief baseball officer Craig Breslow should quickly hang up the phone.
