On Sunday, all 30 teams are participating in the first two rounds of the 2024 MLB draft, and the Boston Red Sox held pick No. 12, which they used on Texas A&M outfielder Braden Montgomery.
Montgomery, 21, started his college career at Stanford before transferring to Texas A&M for this last season. In 187 collegiate games, he hit .327 with a 1.073 OPS, 62 home runs, 203 RBIs and 17 stolen bases.
He also spent two summers in the Cape Cod Baseball League, appearing in 32 games for Yarmouth-Dennis, hitting .292 with a .966 OPS, five home runs, 31 RBIs and one stolen base.
MLB Pipeline had Montgomery ranked as the eighth-ranked prospect entering the draft.
