The Boston Red Sox continue to shuffle around their bullpen with the group having issues over the last month.
On Monday, the team announced that they've optioned right-handed reliever Greg Weissert to Triple-A Worcester and recalled right-handed reliever Trey Wingenter to the big league club.
Weissert, 29, has appeared in 45 games this year and posted a 4.24 ERA (4.18 FIP) and a 1.436 WHIP while striking out 47 batters in 46 2/3 innings.
Wingenter, 30, was traded to Boston earlier in the month by the Chicago White Sox. He made one appearance for the Red Sox, giving up three runs in one inning of work, before being sent down to Triple-A. In four outings for Worcester, he's allowed just one earned run on four hits and two walks.
Boston needs to continue to work to solidify their bullpen down the stretch.
