The Boston Red Sox have had some pieces moving around with their pitching staff over the last month, and that trend continues.
On Friday, Boston announced that they've recalled right-handed pitcher Cooper Criswell from Triple-A Worcester and optioned right-handed pitcher Trey Wingenter back to make room.
Criswell has made 12 appearances for the Red Sox this year this season, posting a 4.15 ERA and a 1.212 WHIP while striking out 49 batters. Wingenter appeared in just one game for Boston after being acquired in a trade. He allowed three earned runs on two hits and one walk in his one inning of work after the Oakland Athletics.
This may mean Josh Wicnkowski is moving back to the bullpen, or he and Criswell could switch off backpacking each other every five days.
