On Sunday, the Boston Red Sox and Texas Rangers met for the final game of their three-game series at Globe Life Field with Alex Cora's team earning a 7-2 win.
Boston's offense was solid in this one, as the team scored seven runs on 10 hits and four walks. However, they did strike out 12 times. Wilyer Abreu (2-for-4 with two home runs) drove in four runs while Jarren Duran (3-for-4 with a home run and a walk) drove in two and David Hamilton (2-for-3 with a home run) drove in one. They were the only three members of the lineup to record multiple hits in the contest.
The Red Sox's arms were impressive as well. Starter Nick Pivetta went 4 2/3 innings, giving up just two runs on just two hits (both solo home runs) and a walk while striking out five batters. Cam Booser (1 1/3 inning), Zack Kelly (one inning), Brennan Bernardino (one inning) and Josh Winckowski (one inning) went the rest of the way with Kelly being the only one to allow a baserunner (one hit).
This win improves Boston's record to 59-51 on the year and 32-23 away from Fenway Park and clinches a series victory. They'll remain on the road for a three-game set with the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium starting on Monday.
