After five games off, the Boston Red Sox are expected to get third baseman Rafael Devers back in the lineup on Wednesday, according to manager Alex Cora.
Devers has been dealing with multiple injuries this year, but it's been the knee that's held him out recently. He originally suffered the team's loss to the Cleveland Guardians on April 16, and he tried to play designated hitter the following day, but he felt more pain.
Partially due to the injuries, Devers has struggled to start the 2024 campaign, hitting just .188 with a .703 OPS in his 13 games.
Having him back in the lineup should provide a boost to the offense, especially if he's healthy. If Devers goes back to third base, Pablo Reyes and Bobby Dalbec will be tasked with covering first base with Triston Casas out with a rib fracture.
