During the fourth inning of the Boston Red Sox's Monday night division battle with the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field, third baseman Rafael Devers broke the franchise's record for consecutive games with a home run.

However, it wasn't the record that Devers was thrilled with, it was his ability to help the team when they needed it.

"At the moment I wasn't thinking about (the record)." Devers said after the game. "It was most about hitting the ball well in the air with men in scoring position. For me to be able to help the team and get ahead with two runs at that point it was a great moment. But yes of course when I got to the dugout and and I saw my teammates, it was a special moment, for sure."

The home run put the Red Sox up 3-0 after Rays starter Taj Bradley looked incredible through the first three innings, striking out eight of the first nine batters he faced.

That statement from Devers says everything you need to know about him as a player and teammate. He just wants to help his team win, and you can see just how much the winning and losing affects him.
