The Boston Red Sox enter Thursday with a chance to earn a series split against the Cleveland Guardians at Fenway Park.
Unfortunately, they'll have to compete without third baseman Rafael Devers, who apparently didn't feel well after playing designated hitter on Wednesday.
According to MassLive's Christopher Smith, Devers will have an MRI on his knee to make sure it's structurally sound.
Boston will use Brennan Bernardino as an opener for the fourth and final game of this series. Here's what the lineup will look like behind him.
- Jarren Duran LF
- Triston Casas 1B
- Wilyer Abreu RF
- Enmanuel Valdez 2B
- Connor Wong DH
- David Hamilton SS
- Pablo Reyes 3B
- Reese McGuire C
- Ceddanne Rafaela CF
Bernardino has posted a 1.69 ERA in 5 1/13 innings of work over four appearances. Only two Guardians have recorded hits against him - Estevan Florial (1-for-2) and Josh Naylor (1-for-2).
Cleveland will send Carlos Carrasco to the mound for the contest, who has recorded a 3.55 ERA in his three starts over 12 2/3 innings. Only three members of Boston's lineup have recorded hits against him - Casas (1-for-2 with an RBI), Duran (1-for-2) and Wong (2-for-2).
