Just how bad have Red Sox pitchers been since the All-Star break?

Just how bad have Red Sox pitchers been since the All-Star break? image

Earlier in the season, the Boston Red Sox were getting some incredible performances from their pitchers nearly every time through the rotation, and the bullpen was good enough to close games consistently.

However, since the All-Star break, things have swung in the opposite direction.

After the Red Sox were able to outlast the Los Angeles Angels in a 12-10 win on Friday, the numbers are appalling.

According to MassLive's Chris Cotillo, since the break, Boston pitchers have the worst ERA in baseball (6.10), allowed the most hits (274), most runs (182) and most home runs (55). Opponents are hitting .287 against them.

The starters have struggled, but the bullpen has been horrendous. Trade deadline acquisitions like Lucas Sims and Luis Garcia haven't helped in the way that the team hoped. Sims has allowed five earned runs in seven innings, and Garcia has allowed 13 runs (12 earned) in 7 2/3 innings.

These are not the signs of a team that's going to make the postseason. Andrew Bailey needs to figure out the issues and settle the guys down before it gets too late.
