The Boston Red Sox entered Tuesday night with a chance to even their series against the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards, and they did just that, earning an 8-3 victory.
Boston's starter Brayan Bello struggled early, allowing three runs in the first inning but settled down for his last four. He got into some trouble again in the sixth, but Brennan Bernardino came in and escaped a bases-loaded jam.
Bernardino pitched two scoreless innings in total, and the duo of Justin Slaten and Greg Weissert followed up with scoreless innings of their own to close it out.
Offensively, Boston put on an impressive showing, as Rafael Devers led the team, going 4-for-5 with two RBIs. Rob Refnsyder (2-for-4 with two RBIs) and Wilyer Abreu (1-for-4 with an RBI) both hit home runs.
Jarren Duran (1-for-4), Romy Gonzalez (0-for-0 with a sacrifice fly) and Connor Wong (1-for-4) also drove in runs.
This is the Red Sox's first win over the Orioles this season, as Alex Cora's squad moves to 28-27 on the year. A victory on Wednesday will give the team a much-needed series win over the divisional opponent.
