Through the first two weeks of their 2024 campaign, the Boston Red Sox have done a lot of winning, earning victories in seven of their first 10 matchups.
However, there have also been some disappointing aspects to the beginning of the season. Shortstop Trevor Story landed on the 10-day injured list on Friday with a shoulder injury, and now, the Red Sox have placed starting pitcher Nick Piveta on the 15-day injury list with a right elbow flexor strain.
To fill his 26-man roster spot, the Red Sox recalled lefty reliever Brennan Bernardino from Triple-A Worcester.
Pivetta has made two starts so far this season, giving up just one run, one walk and eight hits while striking out 13 in 11 innings. He was scheduled to start the second game of this three-game series against the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday.
The injuries are starting to pile up for Boston. They'll need to play their best ball if they want to continue winning games at their current pace.
