While the attention of most Boston Red Sox fans is obviously on the big-league club, their farm system deserves recognition as well, as it's filled with young prospects who could change the direction of the organization going forward.
One prospect is already on the move this week, as Beyond the Monster's Andrew Parker has reported that right-handed pitcher Luis Perales is making the jump from High-A Greenville to Double-A Portland.
Perales has looked strong this season, posting a 3.42 ERA, 1.98 FIP and 1.44 WHIP. With Greenville, he struck out an impressive 15.7 per nine innings with his four-pitch arsenal that includes a fastball that tops out at 99 MPH.
MLB.com has the 21-year-old ranked as Boston's ninth-best prospect and second-best pitching prospect behind only Wikelman Gonzalez.
