The Boston Red Sox enter Friday with a chance to start off their three-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates on a strong note, as the two teams meet at PNC Park.

Boston will send Brayan Bello to the mound on Friday, and they'll also get Masataka Yoshida back at designated hitter after multiple games off.

Here's what the Red Sox lineup will look like for Game 1:

  1. Jarren Duran CF
  2. Wilyer Abreu LF
  3. Rob Refsnyder RF
  4. Triston Casas 1B
  5. Connor Wong C
  6. Masataka Yoshida DH
  7. Bobby Dalbec 3B
  8. Enmanuel Valdez 2B
  9. Ceddanne Rafaela SS

Boston will be without Rafael Devers again, who's dealing with a knee injury.

Bello hasn't been dominant to start the year. In his four outings, he's pitched 20 2/3 innings and recorded a 3.92 ERA and a 1.21 WHIP. No Pirates have ever recorded a hit against the 24-year-old.

For Pittsburgh, Quinn Priester will be on the bump. The 2019 first-round pick made his MLB debut in 2023, posting a 7.74 ERA and a 1.70 WHIP in 10 appearances. In 13 2/3 innings in Triple-A, he recorded a 3.95 ERA and a 1.244 WHIP. He's never faced any member of Boston's lineup.
