Boston Red Sox legend Jonathan Papelbon went on X yesterday and called out the Sox’s starting pitcher Brayan Bello, saying that the team needed more from him. By more, Papelbon said that Bello needed to pitch more innings, throw more first pitch strikes, and get more control physically and mentally.

Bello actually has the best record of any pitcher on the team, sitting at 10-5. On the other hand, he has the worst ERA of all the starters, with a 5.27 ERA. This means most of his wins were bailouts from the Sox offense.

Bello just signed a new contract with the Sox for six years, 55 million. The goal for Bello was he would become the next Sox ace. However, until he can stop giving up multiple runs in the first or second inning, Bello has a long way before he can fulfill that goal.
