The Boston Red Sox have been a .500 team for most of their 2024 campaign, partially due to the team's lack of experienced veteran talent.
Now, not only is Red Sox owner John Henry getting blasted by fans for his team's struggles and the change in organizational direction, but fans have also been making their opinion heard after Henry stated that their expectations are too high.
Players are even unhappy with Henry saying that they have just a 1-in-30 chance of winning each year. However, Red Sox closer Kenley Jansen told his teammates exactly how they should take those comments.
“We’ve got to make ourselves a winner,” Jansen said (via. MassLive). “Hopefully, that put a fire under all of these guys in this clubhouse. Be pissed if you want to be pissed about a comment like that and use it to your advantage to be a winner.
The Red Sox players can't do anything to change the way ownership behaves, but they can continue to give them everything they have and prove that they deserve to be invested in.
