After designating him for assignment last week to make room for Cam Booser on the roster, the Boston Red Sox tried to pass lefty reliever Joe Jacques through waivers, but he's found a new team.
According to Beyond the Monster's Andrew Parker, Jacques has been claimed by the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Jacques, 29, was selected by Boston from the Pittsburgh Pirates in the Rule 5 draft in 2022. He appeared in 24 games for the Red Sox over the past two seasons, posting a 5.08 ERA and a 1.588 WHIP in 28 1/3 innings of work.
Boston has been trying to find more consistent left-handed pitchers for their bullpen, and with three lefties in there at the moment (Booser, Brennan Bernardino and Joely Rodriguez), there wasn't much need for Jacques at the major-league level.
