Dave Dombrowski is building his Red Sox front office one piece at a time. Just a day after hiring Mike Hazen as general manager, he added former Braves GM Frank Wren as senior vice president of baseball operations.

Wren’s main responsibility will be talent evaluation, Dombrowski said Friday, per MLB.com.

"That's why he came on board. At the major league level, when we talk about making trades or talk about signing free-agent players, we really want him actively involved in that,” Dombrowski said. “He'll be one of a couple of other individuals that we have in those positions. Their titles may be different, but basically they're going to be responsible for scouting the major leagues and being those main guys for me."

Dombrowski and Wren worked together with the Expos and Marlins from 1987-98 before Wren became GM of the Orioles for the 1999 season. Wren then moved to the Braves, serving as GM from 2008-14.

"I think one thing about Dave, he wants to hear a lot of different voices," said Wren, who will work out of Atlanta. "He's not afraid to have people differ from him. He's not afraid to get everyone in the room and hear them out.”
