According to insider Jeff Passan, the Boston Red Sox are finalizing a surprising trade for Toronto Blue Jays catcher Danny Jansen. The full deal has yet to be revealed, but it seems Sox infielder Cutter Coffey is heading to Toronto. Coffey was a draft pick in 2022 and has been playing well in High-A this season.

Jansen is hitting .212 and has six home runs and 18 RBI. A surprising move by the Sox, as they already have a quality right handed catcher in Connor Wong, who was an All-Star snub this year.

Jansen may be part of some bigger plot by the Sox front office for a big move at the trade deadline. Hopefully so, as the Sox need more help than Jansen can give.
