Red Sox pitching prospect Michael Kopech broke his hand in a fight with a teammate during spring training, WEEI reported.

According to general manager Mike Hazen, the team is working out the situation internally and will construct a medical plan for Kopech, the No. 6 prospect in Boston's loaded system, per Fangraphs. MLB.com ranks him fifth.

“It was stupid,” Hazen told WEEI.com. “He’s going to have to grow up, obviously, with the things that have happened so far. He’s got a long road to go to get to the big leagues. He obviously has a ton of potential. He’s got a long way to go. These types of things, you don’t want to put more barriers in front of you than playing professional baseball already presents you.”

It's not the first time Kopech has landed in hot water. Last season, the Red Sox's first pick in the 2014 draft was suspended for 50 games after testing positive for Oxilofrine, a stimulant in violation of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.

In 15 games at Class A Greenville (S.C.) in 2015, the righty posted a 2.63 ERA, struck out 70 and walked 27 over 65 innings.
