The Boston Red Sox have an open roster spot on Thursday after optioning Tyler Heineman and Isaiah Campbell and reinstating Connor Wong, but it appears a corresponding move might be made soon.
According to Beyond the Monster's Andrew Parker, Boston is calling up left-handed pitcher Bailey Horn from Triple-A Worcester.
Horn, 26, was acquired in a trade earlier this season from the Chicago White Sox for cash considerations.
In 16 innings over 12 appearances with Worcester this year, he's posted a 1.69 ERA and a 1.125 WHIP while striking out 19. He had struggled to start the year with the White Sox's Triple-A affiliate in Charlotte, posting an 11.32 ERA in 10 1/3 innings over nine appearances.
He'll likely fill in as the secondary lefty option out of the bullpen with Cam Booser being sent down earlier in the week.
