Last week, things got heated between the Boston Red Sox and Colorado Rockies when Rockies pitcher Cal Quantrill and Red Sox catcher Reese McGuire started barking at each other after McGuire popped out to center field.
Benches cleared and there was a lot of yelling and pushing and shoving, but ultimately, there were no punches thrown.
However, the Red Sox apparently weren't happy with that being the end of the situation.
According to MassLive's Sean McAdam, multiple Red Sox players were looking to confront Quantrill after the game at Coors Field, forcing security to intervene. McAdam also reported that a few Red Sox were waiting at Colorado's team bus.
“I was in a unique position (having been a member of both teams),” said Trevor Story, who played for the Rockies from 2016-21. “But I didn’t like what had been going on.”
Boston's players rallied around their backup catcher, and that's something that he truly appreciated.
“I don’t really have too much on it,” McGuire said. “It was awesome just to see the love and support from my teammates and my coaching staff.”
Luckily, things weren't allowed to escalate, or it could've been an even uglier situation after the game.
