The Boston Red Sox have less than 20 games remaining in their 2024 season, and they're four games back of the final wild-card spot in the American League.
With time running out for Alex Cora's club, the Red Sox are dealing with more injury issues.
Cora announced on Wednesday that the team is placing left-handed reliever Brennan Bernardino on the injured list with elbow discomfort. To fill his spot, they will activate left-handed reliever Cam Booser.

2024 has been Bernardino's worst professional season, as he's posted a 4.06 ERA (4.16 FIP) and a 1.412 WHIP while striking out 8.8 batters per nine innings. He's fallen quite a bit from his impressive 3.20-ERA 2023 season. Hopefully, getting an early jump on recovery will put him in a better position for next year.
Booser has been great for a 32-year-old rookie who took a significant amount of time away from the game. He's appeared in 41 games for Boston this season, posting a 3.00 ERA and a 1.238 WHIP while striking out 42 batters over 42 innings.
