While the Boston Red Sox haven't gotten out to the best start imaginable over the first 21 games of their 2024 campaign, one member of the organization has struggled more than most.

Entering Friday, Red Sox infielder Bobby Dalbec was 0-for-19 in his at-bats, which was not helping the team's up-and-down offense.

However, during the series opener against the Pittsburgh Pirates Friday night, Dalbec socked a double to right field for his first hit of the season.

After the contest, Dalbec told MassLive's Chris Cotillo that he wouldn't call his cold streak a slump.

"I wouldn’t call it a slump, man," Dalbec said. "It’s (expletive) 18 at-bats or something. I’ve always been a slow starter, too, which is frustrating. There’s always next year to get off to a hot start."

When Dalbec first arrived in the MLB in 2020, he recorded nine hits and six home runs in his first 10 games with the team. And, in 2021, he had 15 hits in the first 19 games of the season.

It doesn't feel like we're getting those types of runs any time soon, but hopefully seeing the ball find the field is a sign of things to come for Dalbec going forward.
