Baseball fans in Montreal will get another chance to prove to Major League Baseball they deserve a team in their city.

Olympic Stadium will be the site of a two-game exhibition series between the Red Sox and Blue Jays on April 1-2, 2016, ESPN.com's Gordon Edes reported Wednesday. The series will mark the third consecutive year games will be played in Montreal at the end of spring training.

Edes reported  the Red Sox will make an official announcement Friday .

The first two series at the Big O were highly successful. The Mets and Blue Jays drew 96,350 fans in 2014, and the Reds-Blue Jays series this year saw 96,545 fans attend the games.

Montreal, which hosted the Expos from 1969-2004, is pining for a return of MLB baseball, but commissioner Rob Manfred has been adamant the city must have a new stadium before it can be considered MLB-ready.
