The Boston Red Sox Red Sox have put themselves in position to compete for a playoff spot down the stretch after their first 100 games of the year, and while everyone is waiting for the team to make some moves at the deadline, a different type of good news came on Wednesday afternoon.
According to ESPN's Jeff Passan, the Red Sox and manager Alex Cora have been engaged in contract talks and there is "momentum toward a deal."
This comes after Cora has repeatedly said that he didn't want to have discussions during the season.
Boston's manager has done a great job getting most out of a young, unproven roster in 2024 that many thought would be fighting to stay out of last place in the division instead of for a playoff spot.
