The gimmick has been around for decades: A pro baseball player plays all nine positions in a game and gets his name in the paper (or the Interwebs). Ray Chang joined the club Monday.

The veteran minor leaguer, an infielder by trade, went around the diamond for the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (the Reds' Double-A affiliate) in the team's regular-season finale, starting at first base and finishing on the mound. He finished in style, too: a 1-2-3 inning on just four pitches. On top of that, we went 3 for 4 at the plate

Chang said Blue Wahoos manager Pat Kelly sprung the idea on him before the game.

The 32-year-old native of Kansas City, Mo., has never reached the majors during a pro career that began in 2005, and this trick won't get him there. Still, this was a neat way for him to get his name in the Interwebs, and to ease into the Southern League playoffs, which begin this week.
