As it turns out, the festivities got started a bit early when a raccoon found its way into the weight room in the Mets' clubhouse.
Reliever Bobby Parnell reported, via ESPN New York, that the critter, described as a baby, eventually ran inside a cage and was safely apprehended.
The startling takeaway is that there was a cage that just happened to be available. "I guess they have a problem," Bobby Parnell joked.
