Another day, another awkward trip to Washington D.C.
President Donald Trump on Thursday welcomed the World Series champion Red Sox for the team's visit to the White House to commemorate their 2018 title.
“Each Red Sox player is a shining example of excellence living out an American sporting tradition that goes back many generations, from the open fields of our rich farmlands to the vacant lots of our cities,” Trump said. “Baseball is truly America’s pastime.”

It's a change from the mistake made earlier Thursday when the White House released an official statement on the celebration.

The email error came after the White House first incorrectly labeled the team the "Red Socks" on its website.
Trump also made no mention of the fact that 11 players — including Mookie Betts, David Price and Christian Vazquez — and manager Alex Cora were absent from the gathering.
“Puerto Rico is very important to me. During the winter I spent a lot of time back home, visiting my family and friends. Unfortunately, we are still struggling, still fighting," Cora wrote in a letter to El Nuevo Dia on Sunday.
“Even though the United States Government has helped, there’s still a long road ahead and that is OUR reality. I’ve used my voice on many occasions so that Puerto Ricans are not forgotten and my absence (from the White House) is no different. As such, at this moment, I don’t feel comfortable celebrating in the White House."
