Orioles pitcher Miguel Castro robbed at gunpoint: 'They wanted to kill me' image

Orioles pitcher Miguel Castro is thankful to be alive.

The reliever was recently held up at gunpoint, the target of a robbery, while conducting a camp for aspiring big leaguers in his home country of the Dominican Republic.

"I almost lost my career," Castro posted on his Instagram story (translated from Spanish). "Thank God the gun jammed. … I am alive by the mercy of God."

"This has to stop," the post reads. "They took my chain and they wanted to kill me. It's unbelievable, I was at a training field trying to help those who want to make it to the big leagues and these two guys jumped on me to take my chain with also the intention of putting a bullet in me. This has to stop."
