Two of the top teams in the American League will meet in a potential postseason preview when the Orioles host the Astros on ESPN's "Sunday Night Baseball."

Baltimore entered the weekend's four-game series trailing the first-place Yankees by one game in the AL East standings. Houston, meanwhile, sat five games up on the second-place Mariners in the AL West, part of a remarkable mid-season ascent.

The Orioles tout one of the most-prolific offenses in baseball; through Wednesday, they ranked first in home runs and third in runs scored. MVP candidate Gunnar Henderson (33 HR) and veteran Anthony Santander (37 HR) are among the eight Baltimore players with at least 10 home runs this season.

Houston's stalwart pitching staff has sparked its mid-season turn-around. Left-hander Yusei Kikuchi, acquired at the trade deadline from Toronto, has bolstered an already-strong unit. Kikuchi has a 2.42 ERA through four starts with his new club, and will get the ball against his former division foes on Sunday night.

The Astros previously swept a three-game series from the Orioles in June, out-scoring Baltimore 27-13 across the series.
