Like it or not, sports fans have been taunting the opposition since the dawn of organized sports.
Most of the time, this is fun stuff, but sometimes it's cringe-worthy.
That turned out to be the case Saturday at Ole Miss's Swayze Field, when the Rebels hosted Tulane in an elimination game of the NCAA baseball tournament.

Nola.com reports that before the game, an Ole Miss fan threw a baseball on the field at the Green Wave players. Inscribed on the ball were the words, "I took my Chevy to the levee but the levee was gone..." and "Katrina ’06."
Tulane, of course, is based in New Orleans, and the inscriptions were a tasteless, immature reference to the devastation Hurricane Katrina caused in the Crescent City after the levees there failed.
For their part, the Green Wave handled the incident well. The team's Twitter account sent out a Tweet — since deleted — showing a picture of the ball, with a hashtag saying #NotEvenTheRightYear. Katrina struck the city in September 2005, not ’06.
The Green Wave had the last laugh, too. The No. 2 seed in the Oxford Regional eliminated the top-seeded Rebels, 6-5, thanks to a ninth-inning home run by Jake Rogers.
