Oakland Athletics farmhand Andrew Lambo underwent surgery for testicular cancer on Friday.

The 27-year-old outfielder/first baseman was diagnosed while playing with Triple-A Nashville after experiencing discomfort. He went to the Vanderbilt University Urology Clinic, where the diagnosis was made and the surgery was performed.

For the time being, Lambo has been placed on Triple-A Nashville's seven-day disabled list.

“He’s a pretty gregarious guy and fits in well in the clubhouse,” manager Bob Melvin told the San Francisco Chronicle. “At some point in time, we figured we’d see him this year, but right now, what he’s got going on is a lot more important. So we’re keeping our fingers crossed, and our thoughts and prayers are with him.”

Lambo, who has spent the majority of the 2016 season in the minors, was on the Oakland Opening Day roster.

He took to Twitter to thank everyone for their support, vowing that he will beat the cancer.

Thank you everyone for the prayers and support. I'm truly blessed to have soo much love. I'm going to beat this and be back on the diamond
