The Boston Red Sox pushed past the Texas Rangers 9-5, which all came off of the momentum from rookie Nick Sogard’s first hit in his MLB debut.

The start of this game didn’t look good, as the Sox were down one as Kutter Crawford let a homer off early. Wilyer Abreu was the man who put the Sox up by hitting a two-run homer to put the Sox up one in the top of the 1st inning. Then the Rangers scored two more off two more home runs in the bottom of the third.

The top of the fourth is when things got fun. Connor Wong scored a run to tie it, Wilyer Abreu hit a single to take the lead, and then rookie Nick Sogard got his first hit in his MLB debut to score two more, making it 6-3.

Masataka Yoshida and Ceddane Rafaela added on to the lead by hitting a sacrifice fly and two-run homer in the top of the sixth to make it 9-3. The Rangers then hit a two-run homer themselves to make it 9-5. In the bottom of the seventh, the Rangers scored one more run to make it 9-6.

This late scoring by the Rangers didn’t help though, as Rafael Devers hit a homer and Dominic Smith doubled to score one to make it 11-6. Finally, the Sox managed to close them out with their new look bullpen.

The next game in the series is tomorrow at 7:05pm EST.
