New York Yankees second baseman Gleyber Torres seems to have avoided an injury scare after being hit by a pitch on his throwing hand against the Houston Astros on Friday night.
The 27-year-old is in the starting lineup batting leadoff for the Bronx Bombers for Saturday night's game after exiting Friday night's 7-1 win during the seventh inning.
Torres pulled himself from the game during a mound visit in the bottom of the seventh after initially staying in the game following the hit-by-pitch.

Gleyber back in the lineup
Torres remains the leadoff hitter with D.J. LeMahieu currently on the 10-day injured list due to a foot injury he picked up during Spring Training.

The Yankees received encouraging news on Torres' hand, specifically his thumb, following the game. X-rays were negative so it likely came down to how Torres felt waking up Saturday morning. He mentioned Friday night that he was concerned about gripping a baseball when he was in the field.
Riding the hot hand with Oswaldo Cabrera
Another slight change to the lineup—or lack thereof—comes with Cabrera. Though super utliity player Jon Berti was expected to get the start, according to Aaron Boone before Friday's win, the Yankees are riding the uber-hot hand.
Cabrera's six hits through the first two games currently leads all Yankees hitters, which was aided by his career-high four-hit night on Friday.
To open the season, Cabrera is 6-for-9 with a home run, a double and four RBI.
Marcus Stroman's Yankee debut
Getting the start on the mound for the Yankees on Saturday night will be the righty in Stroman. The New York native signed a two-year deal worth $27 million this offseason. The deal includes a 2026 player option.
Stroman logged 20.2 innings pitched in five starts during Spring Training, recording a 2.61 ERA, allowing 17 hits, six earned runs and seven walks while striking out 16 batters.
The Yankees and Astros are scheduled for first pitch at 7:15 ET on Saturday night in Game 3 of a four-game series to open the season.
